Dr. Manita Timilsina is a distinguished geotechnical engineer and geodisaster researcher specializing in landslides, floods, and earthquakes. Dr. Timilsina holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Pokhara University, as well as a Master’s degree and PhD in Disaster Mitigation and Management from Ehime University, Japan.
An accomplished author, she has published over 10 technical papers in peer-reviewed international and national journals, addressing geotechnical engineering issues related to earthquakes, rainfall, and floods in both Nepal and Japan. She has also contributed chapters to two books and has been involved in numerous research projects, GIS training courses, and consulting initiatives related to geodisasters.
Dr. Timilsina is a supporting member for the Secretary-General of the International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction and serves as an editor for the Springer Open-Access journal Geoenvironmental Disasters. Additionally, she is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Nepal Geotechnical Society, Nepal Engineering Association, Himalayan Landslide Society, and Nepal Geological Society.
