PhD in Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering), Civil Engineer

 

Dr. Manita Timilsina is a geotechnical engineer and geodisaster researcher working for landslide, flood and earthquake. She is currently engaged with GSI and Himalaya Conservation Group and working for the geodatabase preparation of national level landslide inventory and hazard mapping. She holds a BE in Civil Engineering from Pokhara University, ME and PhD in Disaster Mitigation and Management from Ehime University Japan. She has published more than 10 technical papers in peer reviewed international and national journals on geotechnical engineering focusing earthquake, rainfall and floods in Nepal and Japan. She has also written few chapters in two books. She has worked on various research projects, GIS training courses and consulting projects related to geodisasters. She is supporting member for Secretary-General of International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction and she is Editor of Springer Open-Access journal Geoenvironmental Disasters. She is also member of Nepal Geotechnical Society, Nepal Engineering Association, Himalayan Landslide Society and Nepal Geological Society.
